Je donc suis parti sur une découpe de six segments. Là où tout commence à être comique c’est que la largeur de l’arche n’est pas constante. Il est donc impératif pour des considérations structurelles que la partir la plus “fine” en bas ne le sois pas trop pour ne pas créer un point faible. Idem pour les cercles qui percent en arc de cercle la partie supérieure. L’autre aspect à prendre en compte : c’est la résistance de l’arche par rapport à sa taille. Car non, NON ! Comme mentionné plus haut, on ne fait pas un machin de cette taille avec 3mm d’épaisseur. Un coup de vent aurait vite fait de tout casser. Comme le montre le schéma ci-dessus, j’ai pensé qu’une structure en quinconce réglerait la question. La structure a donc été faite en quatre couches de 6mm en multiplex. Ce bois est le premier à m’avoir obligé à travailler en deux passage de découpe pour sortir les pièces tout en conservant un degrés “acceptable” de carbonisation de la tranche.
